Free The Children Japan is…
Free the Children Japan is an international organization where “children are helping children.” With “Kids can”as its motto, FTCJ empowers children to take international actions.。
Free The Children (FTC) is an international non-profit organization founded in 1995 by 12 year old Craig Kielburger.
FTC’s goal is literally to free children. Free form what? There are two goals that FTC is aiming for:
1.To free children from poverty and exploitation
2.To free young people from the idea that they are powerless to make a difference.
The founder of FTC, Craig Kielburger, was only 12 years old when he started the organization. That is why it is important for FTC’s activities to be children-led. In short, FTC is taking international actions with “children helping children” as its motto.
To spread the actions of FTC, Free The Children Japan was started in 1999.
☆FTC is a non-religious organization.
FTCJ obtained the NPO-corporate status approved by Tokyo metropolitan Government in September, 2004.

Visions, Missions, and Goals.
●Society envisioned by FTCJ
FTCJ envisions a society where the rights of children around the world are not violated; where the children are able to meet their full potential? in terms of their mental and physical health; where the children accept each other regardless of one’s religion, age, gender, or culture; where the children encourages each other.

●FTCJ’s missions, roles
To achieve its goals and visions, FTCJ takes actions to create an environment where children can take actions to create world peace.
FTCJ promotes and take actions in the following field: 1. Children-led projects. 2. Empowering and education children projects. 3. Advocacy projects. 4. Networking projects. 5. Overseas support projects (Philippines, India, and Mongolia). |

Types of members
FTCJ is an organization that takes actions to support other countries. The main members of FTCJ are children under 18 years of age.
However, supports from adults (19 and above) are essential too. University students, working adults, parents and schools, and corporations are helping together, regardless of their ages, by becoming consistent supports and giving Kids Empowerment Donations to help children take actions.
Anyone interested in international relations, children’s rights, or becoming active in any of the FTCJ projects may become a member.

※Kids and Youth Members that want to subscribe to FTCJ Newsletters need to pay 1,000 yen per year
